Some of the therapeutic uses of Hyperbaric Oxygen are as follows:

  1. Diving Decompression Illness
  2. Diabetic Foot Ulcers
  3. Traumatic Brain Injury (Auto accidents, falls, etc.)
  4. Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
  5. Autism -- Many autism patients improve with treatment
  6. Illnesses or Injury Associated with Diminished Circulation and Decreased Tissue:
    a) Infection of tissue having poor tissue oxygenation
    b) Post operative cases- HBOT can diminish inflammatory response/ speed healing
    c) Peripheral Vascular Disease while awaiting Anigoplasty or surgery
  7. Medical cases which has at times to help: old strokes, cerebral Palsy
  8. Apparently hopeless and rare cases.  There are anecdotal case reports of unusual disorders such as Mitochondrian Disorders, etc.
  9. Muscle, ligament, tendon, and joint injuries to accelerate healing in cases not needing surgery. (Used by some professional athletes.)

DISCLAIMER: Some of the applications of HBOT listed above have a consensus of possible benefit.  Other applications are somewhat controversal.  Worldwide the above listed uses have been reported by some to be of benefit at times.  In general, when no other treatment has worked or is available, HBOT may be a worthwhile consideration.
